Video of Assault Gains Traction on Social Media; Investigation Ongoing

Around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, an assault occurred along Memorial Drive-Frontage Road, in the 6000 block of Hwy 49. The victim, a 47-year-old male, was later admitted to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the hospital notified the Hattiesburg Police Department of the incident.

Giraffes and Hyenas Make Their Way to Hattiesburg Zoo

Giraffes and hyenas are preparing to make Hattiesburg their home in just a few short weeks. While the public won’t be able to visit the animals until May 15, the animals will arrive a couple of weeks beforehand to allow for quarantine and time to acclimate to their new surroundings.

Cause for Paws to benefit local rescue at Saturday event
