Purvis’ Hunter Robinson signed to further his baseball career with Pearl River Community College on Tuesday.

“It’s a big day and a dream come true to play college baseball,” Robinson said. “I’m glad my family is here and I’m ready to sign that paper and make it official.”

Unbeaten Purvis hands Sacred Heart 46-23 loss

 PURVIS – Two of the Pine Belt’s best teams of 2019 clashed on the hardwood on Tuesday night.

The undefeated Purvis and undefeated Sacred Heart girls’ basketball teams looked to have a memorable non-district showdown. Instead, it was a night that resulted in an unprecedented lopsided 46-23 win for the Lady Tornados.

Hankins: ‘We have to win to get in’ – Purvis one game away from playoffs

Purvis finally snapped its three-game losing streak with a 35-6 win over rival Forrest County Agricultural.

The win gives Purvis a chance to decide its destiny with a winner-takes-all game against Greene County to get into the playoffs, most likely as the No. 4 seed.

Rivals FCAHS, Purvis face off with playoffs on the line

Both Purvis and Forrest County AHS find themselves in similar must-win situations.

Last week’s 35-7 loss to Poplarville deepened Purvis’ hole in region play with an 0-3 start. FCAHS was off to an 0-2 start, but with Sumrall having to forfeit last week, it put the Aggies in the hunt for the playoffs.
