Construction is underway on a new education space at the Hattiesburg Zoo. The expansion is expected to be completed by midsummer and is part of a broader effort to improve guest access and learning opportunities, according to zoo officials.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Patience proved to be the difference for the Pearl River men's basketball team Monday night as the Wildcats weather a second-half surge from Copiah-Lincoln to take down the Wolves 67-59.
"I knew it was going to be this kind of game against them. A lot of teams panic and try to pressure them because they want the game to speed up," head coach Chris Oney said. "I've been playing (Copiah-Lincoln head coach) Randy (Bolden) long enough to know not to do that. We had to stay patient and pick the spots where we were aggressive.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River women's basketball team responded from a tough loss on Friday by defeating Copiah-Lincoln 49-46 Monday night to improve to 7-1 in MACCC play.
"We've been talking to our players about basketball being a game of runs," head coach Shanae Govan-Williams said. "You have to be able to weather the storm. This was not our best offensive night tonight, but I think we were able to get stops when we needed to and rebounded well."

But, that was never the plan.
“I will never not be a pitching coach,” Ostrander said. “That’s one of my strengths. I told him that on the front end. I said, ‘I want you to come in here and treat it like it’s yours, but we’re going to do it together.’”
