Jones College’s Concert Choir impressed the audience with new and traditional choral music at the Christmas with the Arts performance.
For more than 13 years Jones College’s Christmas with the Arts patrons have generously provided hundreds of new toys for the Salvation Army Toy Drive and this year’s donations will provide an extra bonus for recipients. Thanks to the generous support of the community, Salvation Army Captain Keisha McMullin said these gifts will ensure everyone has a few bonus gifts this year.

Mississippi Treasurer David McRae is the 55th Treasurer for the State of Mississippi. In this role, he helps manage the state’s cash flow, oversees College and Career Savings Mississippi, and has returned more than $140 million in unclaimed money to Mississippians. For more information, visit Treasury.MS.gov.
Every Christmas season, it’s easy to get swept up in the chase for the “perfect” gift. Between Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday trends, our focus can drift from the true reason we celebrate: the birth of Jesus Christ and the time we cherish with family and friends.
The truth is that while the world pushes us to go bigger when gifting every year, the items under big flashy signs don’t always make for the most meaningful gifts. In fact, they might not even fit in a box.

Folk music is an entity based on tradition. With that tradition, there is a purity in holding the songs in their best possible state to transcend generations. However, the process of preservation (or even memory) is subject to the influences and inspirations of the player. Travelling from place to place, songcatchers like Lead Belly could collect at least 500 songs.

We got good news in Mississippi this past Sunday. Ole Miss made the College Football Playoffs, Southern Miss will head to the New Orleans Bowl and Mississippi State will play in the Duke Mayo Bowl.
The Rebels were ranked sixth in the final rankings released Sunday. Ole Miss will host No. 11 Tulane on Saturday, December 20, at 2:30 p.m. The winner of the game will take on No. 3 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on January 1. It's odd that Ole Miss got into the playoffs only to play a team (Tulane) it has played for a chance to play a team it has already played (Georgia).
