I am not a Hattiesburg native. I am from a speck of a town in lower Alabama which you may have driven through on the way to a beach. Allison Chestnut has taught in Hattiesburg for more than 30 years, but her first 18 were in Pensacola, Florida. Of us, my wife Erin grew up closest to Hattiesburg, 45 minutes west in Columbia.
