THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Crusaders take care of business, as they knock off Thomas in conference play. The women picked up the win 122-102 and the men 153-106.
Between the two teams, the Crusaders won 20 of the 28 events. Braedon Jacobs, Janos Szabo, & Mate Miszlai were the highlights for the men's team, as they picked up wins in four events each. Kardos Eszter & Bisma Khan, who missed their inaugural meet, as they weren't eligible in time, highlighted the women's team as they picked up seven wins between them.
The Crusader's opened the day with both teams picking up the win in the 200-yard medley relay. For the men, Miszlai, Szabo, Hunter Boudreau, & Josiah Blankenship won the race with a time of 1:36.54, knocking off two teams from Thomas. The team of Eszter, Khan, Grace Funck, & Eva Mangiaracina faced Thomas in a one-on-one race and took the win with a time of 1:56.11.
The Crusaders swept the 1000-yard freestyle in the first individual races of the day. Jacobs & Eszter both picked up their first individual wins of the day in the longest race of the day. Jacobs finished with a time of 10:04.73 and Eszter in 11:27.59.
The 200-yard freestyle was next up and another win for the men. Blankenship getting his name in the first-place column for the second time of day. Blankenship won with a time of 1:46.52.
A third sweep of the day, this time in the 100-yard backstroke. Miszlai & Funck picked up the wins with times of 51:85 & 1:00.54 respectively.
Eszter picked up her third win of the day in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time of 1:09.37 was enough to take first place and put 9 points on the board.
Jacobs added to the points total for the men in the 200-yard butterfly. His time of 1:57.33 earned him a first place finish.
Both teams swept the next two events. The 50-yard & 100-yard freestyle saw Szabo win both events on the men's side and Khan win both events on the women's. Szabo posted times of 22.15 & 47.93 and Khan won with 26.09 & 57.45.
The next two wins came from the men's 200-yard backstroke and women's 200-yard breaststroke. Miszlai picked up his win in 1:54.72 and Eszter picked hers up in 2:33.11.
A sweep in the 500-yard freestyle and wins in the men's 100-yard butterfly and men's 200-yard individual medley would see out the last individual races of the day. Jacobs, Funck, Szabo, & Miszlai picked up the wins and ensured the Crusaders went into the last race of the day with the lead.
The men picked up the last win of the day in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Balazs Bansagi, Millen Fehr, Braedon Jacobs, & Carson Dowd sent Carey home with the win in style as they posted a time of 1:31.73.
The Crusaders are back in action on November 2, as they travel to Loyola (La.).
