Jesmyn Ward, a Mississippi resident and author of the bestselling “Salvage The Bones,” will speak along with fellow author and Mississippian Kiese Laymon at the University of Southern Mississippi’s University Forum at 6:30 p.m. on March 9. USM official Renee M. Bailey said works from Ward and Laymon are “visceral” and touch on the realities of being Black in Mississippi.
