ELLISVILLE – No. 5 Jones County ran its winning streak to 12 games with a sweep of Mississippi Delta here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Bobcats got a three-run home run from Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) and went on to win game one, 9-3. Jay Simpson (Presbyterian Christian School) tossed a five-hitter to spark the Bobcats to a 2-1 victory in game two.
JCJC is now 31-7 overall and 16-4 in the MACJC.
The sweep sets up a major conference showdown on Tuesday. The Bobcats host league-leading Pearl River in a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The No. 6 Wildcats are currently 17-3 in the conference. The games will air on www.jcjc.tv. It will be the final home regular season doubleheader for the Bobcats.
MDCC 14-23 overall and 6-18 in the MACJC, hosts Itawamba on Tuesday.

Jones took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) tripled to center and scored on a ground out by Tate Pepper (Ocean Springs).
In the third, R.J. Brown (Columbus, Georgia) doubled to left and Trace Henry (Mooreville) reached on a bunt single. Robbie Woody (Madison Central) doubled to right to score Brown.
After a ground out, Mason hit his second home run of the season over the leftfield wall to put the Bobcats ahead, 5-0.
The Trojans would put three runs in the seventh.
Matt McCurley singled, Ty Riche walked and Michael Allen followed with an RBI double. With two outs, Tyler Jones delivered a two-run double to make it 5-3.
JCJC would score four times in the eighth.
Stephen Matthews (Tupelo) reached on an error and Miguel Morgan (South Jones) singled. Brown followed with an infield hit to score Matthews. After Henry was hit by a pitch, Woody followed with an RBI single. Henry would later score on a wild pitch and Woody came home from second base on the same wild pitch.
Starter Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) improved to 10-0. That leads the MACJC and is tied for third in the nation. He went 6.1 innings, allowed three earned runs, four hits, walked two and struck out five. Will Hicks (Germantown) went the final 2.2 innings and earned his second save. He gave up no runs, one hit, walked one and struck out three.
Woody doubled and singled twice, while Brown doubled and singled and Henry singled twice. Mason homered, Hale triple and Woullard and Morgan added singles.
Parker Lane singled twice for the Trojans, while Jones and Allen doubled. McCurley had a single.
Starter Logan Clark went 6.1 innings and took the loss. He allowed five runs, eight hits, walked three and struck out two. Korey Bell went 1.2 innings, gave up four runs (one earned), three hits and struck out three.

Simpson was excellent as he improved to 5-1 on the season.
He went all seven innings, allowed one run, six hits, struck out five, hit one and walked none.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the first when with two outs, Woullard singled, Mason singled and Hale reached on an error, which allowed Woullard to score.
MDCC tied it in the third.
Markarius Lee and Jones singled. Ty Riche reached on a fielder’s choice and Dawson Ivey delivered an RBI single.
The Bobcats answered in the bottom of the third when Woullard led off with a triple to the wall in left-center and scored on Hale’s sacrifice fly to right.
MDCC put two runners on with one out in the fourth, but Simpson got a pair of groundouts to get out of the inning.
The Trojans got a leadoff single in the sixth and a two-out single in the seventh, but were unable to score.
Woullard tripled and singled, Henry doubled and Matthews and Mason singled for JCJC.
Devontae Rhodes pitched six innings and got the loss. He allowed two runs (one earned), five hits, walked one and struck out three.
Jones singled twice for MDCC with Ivey, Lane, Allen and Lee adding singles.
