ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College continues to climb in the NJCAA rankings.
Head coach Steve Buckley’s Bobcats moved up to No. 8 in this week’s poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon. JCJC was No. 8 last week.
The Bobcats defeated Hinds 41-36 last week and clinched the top spot in the MACJC South Division. JCJC, winners of seven straight, is now 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the division.
The Bobcats end regular season play with a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday at Mississippi Gulf Coast. The game will air on www.jcjc.tv and the official JCJC Facebook page on Facebook Live with Mark Easley and Chris Robinson on the call.
JCJC will host the North No. 2 team in the first round of the state playoffs at 1 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Other MACJC teams in the poll are Northwest at No. 3, East Mississippi at No. 5, Hinds at No. 7 and Itawamba at No. 20. Holmes and Mississippi Gulf Coast are listed in the “Others Receiving Votes” category.
Iowa Western (7-1) remains No. 1 in the poll with Arizona Western (6-0) still at No. 2.

In the latest JCGridiron.com “Dirty 30” poll, the Bobcats are rated No. 9.
Other MACJC schools in the “Dirty 30” rankings, which includes NJCAA and California schools, are Northwest at No. 5, East Mississippi at No. 8 and Hinds at No. 13. Holmes, Pearl River, Copiah-Lincoln and Mississippi Gulf Coast are listed in the “Others on the Bubble” category.
Fullerton (California) remains No. 1, followed by Iowa Western, Riverside City (California) and Arizona Western.
