The Hattiesburg Zoo is turning into a magical destination fit for the spookiest ghouls, goblins, and the prettiest of princesses for Zoo Boo 2019.
The annual event begins on Friday, Oct. 25, and will be open nightly through Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person, and includes unlimited rides on the “Cousin Itt Train” and the “Carou-Spell.”
Of course, there will be special animal encounters throughout the evening, face painting, thrilling games for all to enjoy, and so much more!
The decorations transform the zoo into a merry, not-too-scary wonderland. There will be “spooktacular” events to keep everyone entertained, including Boogie Man Bingo, themed animal shows, and a Monster Mash Dance Party, just to name a few. Everyone should take the time to stroll through Wicked Wallaby Walkabout, and then hop over to Camp Capybara for creepy campfire stories that are sure to leave you spellbound.
"This annual event has become a Halloween tradition for families, and to see parents creating memorable adventures with their children is really what makes Zoo Boo so special to us," said Rick Taylor, Executive Director for the Hattiesburg Convention Commission.
Make sure to come hungry because the “Ghostly Grill” will be serving all sorts of spooky snacks and spirits!
The “Boos Bar” will be open on the deck near South America boardwalk, stirring up a cauldron of delicious, themed cocktails for all ghouls and ghoulettes over the age of 21 to enjoy.
The High Ropes Adventure Course is offering special rates so all can test their night climbing skills on the “Tower of Terror.”
All guests are highly encouraged to dress as their favorite character or creature. For the safety and security of everyone, the zoo asks adults to please be aware of the costume restriction policy: full face masks and full facial make up will not be allowed, and no "fake" weapons of any kind will be allowed for any guests. Also, Zoo Boo is not a trick-or-treating event and annual passes do not apply.
Tickets are available for advanced purchase online at HattiesburgZoo.com. Online ticket sales will end each event day at noon. Tickets will also be available for purchase each night at the entrance gate, and children under the age of two get in free.
