Five Hub City-area contestants will be making their way to Vicksburg this week to compete in the 2019 Miss Mississippi Pageant, which will be held June 19-22, at the Vicksburg Convention Center.
Local contestants include:
• Mary Margaret Hyer, Miss RiverBend
• Michael Harper, Miss Pearl River Valley
• Macy Mitchell, Miss Hattiesburg
• Macken’z Smith, Miss USM
• Katelyn Elizabeth Brown, Miss Natchez Trace.
Activities kick off Saturday, June 15, with the Magnolia Prince and Princess Crowning Ceremony. A parade on Monday features contestants. An autograph party will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the different contestant groups. Preliminary competitions get underway Wednesday. On Saturday, a new Miss Mississippi will be crowned during competition, which begins at 8 p.m. and will be televised on the local NBC affiliate.
