Hattiesburg’s EUROHA Alumni Association will host its 17th biennial reunion July 1-7 of graduates and others who attended the city’s historic former African-American high schools – Eureka, Royal Street and L.J. Rowan - with a wide variety of events scheduled throughout the week.
Formerly known as EURO, the association, which formed in the late 1970s, expanded its classes in 2015 to include graduates and attendees of Hattiesburg High School to become EUROHA. Grady Gaines, alumnus of the L.J. Rowan High School Class of 1968, currently serves as president of EUROHA.
The schedule of events, including times and locations, is as follows:
Monday, July 1
• Registration and Health Fair, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Meet & Greet, 7 p.m.
Location: Eureka School Building, 412 East 6th St.
Tuesday, July 2
• Registration, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Eureka School Building; Parade, 6 p.m. (lineup at 5:30 p.m. at Hawkins Elementary School); Night in the Park at Chain Park, immediately following parade.
Wednesday, July 3
*Registration, 10 a.m. – noon, Eureka School Building; EUROHA business meeting, 12:15 p.m., Eureka School Building; Public and Memorial Program, 6 p.m., Antioch Baptist Church, 1100 John Street; Sock Hop, 8 p.m. – 12 a.m.; C.E. Roy Community Center, 300 E. 5th Street.
Thursday, July 4 – No EUROHA activities due to holiday
