April 25 Miss. Power Golf tournament benefits Extra Table

By STAFF REPORTS,

Community Connection, Mississippi Power’s employee-based volunteer organization, is working in conjunction with local non-profit agency Extra Table to continue addressing the issue of hunger in the community and throughout the state.

On April 25, Extra Table and Mississippi Power will host the 5th Annual “Power to Fight Hunger” Charity Golf Tournament at Timberton Golf Club to raise money that will be used to purchase new, healthy food for soup kitchens and food pantries in the Pine Belt area.

In Extra Table’s 10th Anniversary year, they are sending food to 39 food pantries and soup kitchens. More than 130 tons of food was distributed in 2017 to feed our hungry neighbors.

Timberton Golf Club, home to the “Power to Fight Hunger” Charity Golf Tournament for the past 5 years, is Hattiesburg’s only 4 1/2 star rated golf course. The 4-Person Scramble tournament will feature sponsors and players from across the Pine Belt. Players will be able to participate in Longest Drive and Longest Putt contest along the course winning gift cards from Half Shell Oyster House. Chick-fil-A and Qdoba will be providing food and refreshments at different holes along the course creating the perfect refueling stations for golfers. Food from Crescent City Grill and Tabella will served for lunch at the conclusion of the tournament.

Raffle tickets are being sold for $10 in advance of the tournament for a chance to win one round of golf for 4 players (cart included) at Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point. Call 601-264-0672 for more information.
