Two Hattiesburg residents have been arrested in connection with the Sept. 23 shooting death of 31-year-old Greg Hawthorne.
Ryan Moore, public information officer with the Hattiesburg Police Department, said in an email that Anquanette Alexander, 22, and Nikarra Duncan, 41, have been taken into custody. Alexander has been charged with first-degree murder, while Duncan is charged with obstruction of justice.
Hawthorne was found deceased Sept. 23 in a home in the 900 block of Cypress Avenue, after officers responded to a report of a shooting. A preliminary autopsy was performed Tuesday which provided evidence that Hawthorne's death was a homicide.
Moore said the incident was domestic-related, and Alexander is the girlfriend of Hawthorne.
