Officials from the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department are investigating an incident that resulted in an explosion in the 100 block of Gandy Street, off Carterville Road just outside the city limits, that left two residents injured.
Captain John Tryner with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to that scene at approximately 8 p.m. on November 19 after receiving calls reporting a possible explosion in the area.
“Multiple units from (the sheriff’s office) responded to the call and determined that two individuals had sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident,” Tryner said in a statement. “Both individuals were subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment, and the investigation into how both parties were injured is ongoing.”
Tryner said the investigation is still underway, and no further information is available at this time.
