At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 12, officers from the Hattiesburg Police Department responded to a disturbance call in the 800 Block of Broadway Drive regarding an individual begging for money.
When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a white female in the wooded area, alone, wielding a knife and shouting loudly.
Officers with Crisis Intervention Training and professionals with Pine Grove Behavioral Health were also dispatched to the scene.
After time spent negotiating, officers were able to de-escalate the situation and the individual was taken into custody without incident.
Because of a prior felony warrant, the individual will be charged and booked into the Forrest County Jail after receiving evaluation services. At this time, the identification of the individual is being withheld due to the sensitivity of the situation.
