As the nation celebrates Police Week, the Hattiesburg Police Department extends its heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated men and women who serve our community every day, while also honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect others.
Police Week is a time to honor the commitment, sacrifice and professionalism of our law enforcement officers. These brave individuals work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our neighborhoods, often putting their lives on the line to uphold the rule of law and protect our rights.
“Our department is proud to recognize Police Week and express our gratitude to our officers for their unwavering dedication,” Hattiesburg Police Chief Hardy Sims said. “Our officers do their best every day to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and their contributions to our community are truly invaluable.”
Throughout the week, the Hattiesburg Police Department will be participating in various events (listed below), which include community outreach events, recognition ceremonies to honor exemplary service and acts of valor and memorial ceremonies, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our community.
“We encourage members of the community to join us in expressing gratitude to our officers for their selfless service," Chief Sims added. "Whether it's a simple 'thank you' or by participating in the Police Week events, every acknowledgment means a great deal to those who protect and serve.”
