The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum and Saenger Theater are Calling for Artists to “Celebrate the Roaring 20s!” in an art installation at the Saenger Theater. The art installation will display the work of 24 selected artists in the window of the Theater from May 1st through June 30th to support and promote FestivalSouth 2024.
Details:
- Interested artists will need to submit a sketch of their proposed work to the email marketing@hattiesburg.org by February 23 at 5 p.m. Front, back and sides of the violin should be addressed in the sketch and the finished product.
- Artists must be 16 years of age or older to participate
- 2-D Design
- Artists selected for this project will be notified via email by March 1
- Selected artists will be provided with an unfinished, raw wood violin and a $25 gift card to either Lowe’s or Michael’s to cover the cost of art supplies.
- Selected artists will have a completion deadline of April 11. Finished work must be
brought to the Hattiesburg Convention Center at One Convention Center Plaza, Hattiesburg, MS 39401 no later than 4:00 p.m. that day.
- Artists are asked to sign the back of their completed violin.
- “Roaring 20s” is the theme for this art installation and artists are asked to use it as a guideline for creating their sketch and finished violin if selected to participate.
- If selected to participate, the artists’ names will be used in promotion and publication of the art installation.
- Artists of one of the 24 chosen violins will receive a t-shirt and two tickets to the Hattiesburg Zoo.
At the conclusion of FestivalSouth, all 24 violins will become the property of the Hattiesburg Convention Commission and will be considered for possible permanent display at the Saenger Theater.
