ARREST: The Hattiesburg Police Department arrested Carlos Mayberry Jr., a 20-year-old Hattiesburg native, on Monday, Oct.11, 2021 for outstanding warrants in Forrest County.
During the arrest, police discovered a stolen firearm in Mayberry’s possession and charged him with one count of possession of a stolen firearm.
Police transported and booked Mayberry into the Forrest County Jail.
ARREST: Hattiesburg natives Galen Cochran, 20, and Calvin Curry, 22, turned themselves in to the Hattiesburg Police Department on Saturday Oct. 9, 2021.
Cochran and Curry had multiple active warrants in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 in the 1300 block of Edwards Street. One 20-year-old male was injured in the shooting with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is still ongoing.
Previously, Hattiesburg Police arrested Jordan Fenton, 19, Fredrick Allen, 18, and a 17-year-old male (all of Hattiesburg) on Oct. 7, 2021, in connection to the incident.
Cochran, Curry and Fenton are each charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count criminal street gang activity and one count conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Allen and the unnamed minor are each charged with one count criminal gang activity and one count conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Police transported and booked the five men into the Forrest County Jail.
ARREST: Over the weekend, Moss Point Police arrested Immanuel Miller, an 18-year-old Hattiesburg native.
Miller had outstanding warrants for one charge of sexual battery (no consent) for an incident that occurred on Aug.19, 2021 on Thornhill Drive and on one charge of receiving stolen property worth over $500 for a separate incident that occurred on Sep. 10, 2021 on N 39th Ave. Additional charges are also pending at this time.
Police transported and booked Miller into the Forrest County Jail.
RAID: On Oct. 7, 2021, the 12th Circuit Court Metro Narcotics executed a search warrant of the Fat Boys Quick Stop in Hattiesburg. Forrest County Sheriff’s Office Investigations, the Hattiesburg Police Department Special Ops, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents assisted in the raid.
Investigations into Fat Boy’s started after local school officials and community members logged numerous tips and complaints about the store distributing controlled substances, and selling alcohol and vape-related products to minors.
The Mississippi Crime Lab reported that materials seized during the raid, including bottles of vape juice, tested positive for controlled substances. Agents also seized the drug “khat” (pronounced cot), which is primarily found in East Africa and South Western Arabia; a firearm and U.S. currency.
Akram Alhamidi, the 21-year-old owner of the store, is charged with possession of a controlled substance - carrying an enhanced penalty for possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Other arrests include: Odai Aldairi, who is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Ab Anthony Aldairi, who is charged with child exploitation; and Samar Khalaf, who is charged with the sale of alcohol to a minor.

ARREST: Hattiesburg Police arrested Vincent Lockhart, an 18-year-old Hattiesburg native, and Brianna Freeman, a 22-year-old Petal native, in connection with a motor vehicle collision that occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 at the intersection of Hwy 49 and Eddy Street.
Investigations revealed that Lockhart and Freeman were traveling in a 2019 Toyota Corolla to a local hospital with an unnamed 20-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The Corolla collided with a 1997 Honda at the intersection, injuring the female driver.The driver was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The gunshot victim, however, reportedly left the scene of the accident and traveled independently to the hospital. He refused to provide any information about the shooting or his injuries.

ARREST: The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert A. Townsend on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, in connection to a recent string of auto-burglaries.
Earlier in the day, a victim of one of the burglaries reported the possible location of a stolen electronic to investigators. This tip led officers to an address on Walls Creek Road and the identification of the suspect.
Upon questioning and a search of the premises, investigators found firearms and multiple items stolen during the other burglaries.
Townsend is currently charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, failure to register as a sex offender and other other charges are pending. Officers transported and booked Townsend into the Forrest County Jail.
