United Way of Southeast Mississippi has announced Amy Lyon as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. Following a thorough and thoughtful search process, the United Way of Southeast Mississippi Executive Committee approved the Search Committee’s recommendation, and Lyon will resume the position on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
“Amy has done an exceptional job in her role as Director of Community Impact over the past three years and has a wealth of experience in leadership, community engagement, collaboration – along with a strong passion for the mission and values of United Way, said Jaclyn Baylis, chair of the search committee and senior vice president for premier banking with Cadence Bank. “We are confident she will provide visionary leadership as we continue to serve our community and build on the impact of our work throughout Southeast Mississippi.”
Lyon is a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, but has called Southeast Mississippi home since 2010. She currently resides in Petal with her husband, Mickey, and daughter, Charlotte. Prior to serving as Director of Community Impact, Lyon spent 11 years as a Program Coordinator at Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources, where she worked with homeless veterans.
“It is one of the greatest honors of my life to serve this organization and community as CEO. United Way has always inspired me with its ability to bring people together to support our neighbors and strengthen Southeast Mississippi. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity and excited to continue building a brighter future together.”
Lyon will become President/CEO of United Way of Southeast Mississippi, following the retirement of Tracie Fowler, who served in the role for a decade.
“Amy’s commitment to our community has been evident for many years, and her dedication to the work of United Way is inspiring, " said Fowler. “She is exceptionally well-suited for this role, and I’m confident she will guide United Way toward an even brighter future.”
