As the high school football playoffs approach my initial thought is to keep my fingers crossed.

Right now every team that has made the playoffs has a legitimate chance to make a run for a championship. With that said, I’ll be holding my breath that COVID-19 doesn’t mess with any of the area teams in our coverage area.

It seems like ages ago when the sports world came to an abrupt halt due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic back in mid-March. In one big swing, college and high school spring sports were canceled, leaving many to wonder what the fate of football and other fall sports would be.

Crosby eyes state rushing record in PCS' rematch against undefeated Madison-Ridgeland Academy in semifinals

Presbyterian Christian and running back Marquis Crosby had a historic night in the opening round of the 6A MAIS playoffs.

As PCS will look to defeated unbeaten Madison-Ridgeland Academy and appear in the state championship game, Crosby will look to break Mississippi’s single-season rushing record of 3,517 yards.

Petal faces off against top-seeded D’Iberville

Petal did what hit had to do to make its 13th straight playoff appearance and did it with style.

Last week, Petal closed out its regular season with a 56-34 win over Terry. In the win, quarterback Jackson Allen threw for eight touchdowns and 276 yards, along with Jeremiah Robinson catching five of those touchdowns and 112 yards.
