The month of April gets its name from the Latin word aperio, meaning “to bud, or open,” because, as a look at our pear trees and azaleas will attest, April is when they burst into bloom. It is a month of asparagus and strawberries, baseball and The Masters, spring cleaning and planting, April Fool’s Day and Easter.
