Well, Mississippi made this week’s issue of The New Yorker. The article is a book review essay on Matthew Desmond’s Poverty, by America. Desmond is a Princeton sociologist whose earlier book, Evicted, garnered him a 2017 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction. Like many studies before his, Evicted was a book about the poor.
