In my last column (“Be number 2,” The Pine Belt News, Aug. 22, 2024), I held up as a worthy example for us all, a textile worker in a small North Carolina town — the one in the floral shirt and white scarf, who chose to follow the urging of Norma Rae (the title of the film) and shut down her loom.
