Time marches quickly, waiting for no one. We come to terms with that fact at the beginning of every new calendar year. It astonishes me that we are now in the year 2022. How can it be that we are 22 years removed from Y2K and the new millennium?

The time between December 25 and January 1 is a period when nothing seems quite real. Christmas Day is over and the New Year has yet begun. For those that celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, this period can extend all the way until January 6th.

COLUMN: Mississippi's past lives on in our cemeteries

As I child I enjoyed trips to Roseland Park Cemetery to feed the ducks. If you are unfamiliar, Roseland Park Cemetery is located off West Seventh Street in Hattiesburg, adjacent to the old Hercules plant. It featured a small duck pond that I loved visiting. Feeding the ducks was one of my fondest childhood memories.
