MONTGOMERY, Ala. – William Carey University bid for the SSAC Baseball Championship came to an end as they fell to Loyola – New Orleans, 5-1 in Day 3 action at Paterson Field in Montgomery.
After defeating Bethel University, 3-2 on Day 1 the Crusaders stumbled on Day 2 as they committed six errors in a 17-2 loss against No. 1 Faulkner University late Thursday night.
Against the Wolf Pack, the Crusaders offense was kept quiet all afternoon. Carey managed just five harmless hits while Loyola tagged WCU for thirteen hits and five runs to end the Crusaders title hopes.
The Crusaders will now await their opponents in the opening round of the NAIA Baseball National Championship to be held at Milton Wheeler Field on May 14-17.
The brackets for the opening round sites will be announced on Thursday, May 10, at 3 p.m.
