HATTIESBURG – Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry announced Thursday the addition of three players during the spring signing period for the 2019 season, right-handed pitcher Aaron Ginn (Wakulla, Fla.) of Pensacola State College, outfielder Hunter LeBlanc (Luling, La.) of Hahnville High School and infielder/outfielder Fisher Norris (Seminary, Miss.) of Seminary High School.
“We look forward to these three young men joining our program and help us to continue the tradition that we have established here at Southern Miss,” said Berry.
Ginn, at 6-foot-1, 200 lbs., has posted a 2-3 record with three saves and 50 strikeouts over 34 1/3 innings at Pensacola State College this spring.
During his prep days, Ginn played for coach Michael Gauger at Wakulla High School. In addition to playing baseball, Ginn was a member of the football and soccer at Wakulla High School. He posted a record of 7-1 while being named the 1st Team All-Big Bend Pitcher of the Year as a senior.
Ginn is majoring in both Business Management and Engineering at PSC.
Norris, at 6-foot-3, 185 lbs., earned second-team small school All-America honors by MaxPreps, while also garnering Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as collecting all-state and all-district accolades.
Heading into a South State playoff series with St. Andrew’s, Norris is hitting .439, with 5 home runs and 45 RBI as he has totaled 18 extra-base hits, seven stolen bases, an .817 slugging percentage. For his career, he is hitting .459 with 14 homers and 135 RBI.
He earned the Home Run and Cy Young awards for his team as well as colleting all-state and all-district honors his sophomore season. As a freshman, Norris collected team Most Valuable Player honors and notched first-team all-district and second-team all-state. His eighth-grade year saw him collect the team’s Rookie of the Year award as well as second-team all-district.
Also, Norris was the Salutatorian of his school as well as earning special honors such as Mississippi Scholars, the Citizenship Award, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the school’s Hall of Fame.
LeBLanc, at 6-foot-1, 180 lbs., started three seasons in both football and baseball. His awards included being named all-district three times in baseball and twice in football. He also earned Louisiana Player of the Week once and earned an invite to the 2018 Louisiana All-Star game.
As a junior in baseball, LeBlanc was voted All-Metro and All-State his junior season and this spring earned Prep Baseball Report’s first-team all-state accolades.
