The Southern Miss football program announced Tuesday the addition of future non-conference dates, which includes a road game at Miami and a four-game series with Troy.
“We are excited to announce these future games for our football program,” said Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain. “Our scheduling philosophy moving forward will continue to include regionally based opponents that provide great opportunities for fans to enjoy Golden Eagle football.”
Southern Miss faces the Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sept. 10, 2022. This will mark the first-ever football meeting between the two schools. It will be the first Atlantic Conference School that Southern Miss will face since the 2017 Walk-Ons Independence Bowl when they took on Florida State.
Southern Miss and Troy will also face off with each school enjoying two home games between the 2021-2029 campaigns.
The Golden Eagles are set to play host to the Trojans at M.M. Roberts Stadium, Sept. 18, 2021, and again, Sept. 1, 2029. Southern Miss will travel to Troy Sept. 24, 2024, and Sept. 16, 2028.
The first game with Troy in 2021 will be the 10th meeting between the schools dating back to 1935. Southern Miss holds a 7-2 overall advantage in the series.
The Golden Eagles are set to the open the 2019 season, Saturday, Aug. 31, against Alcorn State.
