Presbyterian Christian has found its guy to lead the football program after Joey Hawkins stepped away two weeks ago. Derek White was named the new head football coach Wednesday afternoon, PineBeltSPORTS learned.
White was the head coach at Ben Lippin School in Columbia, S.C. the past four seasons where he compiled a 34-14 overall record after inheriting a 1-9 team.
“In our extensive process of checking coach White’s background, we got stellar recommendations from the likes of coach Dabo Swinney, Head Coach at Clemson University, Coach Brett Venables, Defensive Coordinator at Clemson University, and Coach Larry Fedora, former PCS parent and Head Coach at the University of North Carolina,” PCS said in a statement to PineBeltSPORTS. “Mr. Chip Jones, Former Headmaster of Ben Lippin School, elders in his church, parents of his players and fellow coaches and co-workers of Coach White had only positive things to say.”
White will be introduced in PCS’ library Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Go to HubCitySPOKES.com/PineBeltSPORTS for coverage.
