Friday featured seven contests for our area schools, as Laurel and Hattiesburg will cap off Week 2 on Saturday night. Recap six area games with a quick roundup from the night.

Oak Grove 41, Wayne County 19
The Warriors move to 2-0 for the second straight season with another dominant performance against Wayne County. The Warriors breezed to a 27-6 lead by halftime then cruised to victory.
Next game: The Warriors will travel to Laurel Friday.
Gulfport 33, Petal 28
The Panthers dropped to 0-2 on the young season after falling to 2-0 Gulfport on the road Friday. The two teams were scoreless through the first 12 minutes of the game, then the Admirals took a 7-0 lead into halftime. The Panthers jumped up 14-7 then 21-20 before Gulfport took a 33-21 lead with less than two minutes to go in the contest.
Next game: Petal will play its first home game of the season Friday against Brother Martin.
Sumrall 18, Wesson 15
The Bobcats move to 2-0 on the season after a low-scoring affair with Wesson Friday night. It’s the first time Sumrall is 2-0 since 2013. Sumrall fell behind 6-0 after the first quarter, but a 12-point second quarter put it in good position to win the ballgame.
The Bobcats’ defense still hasn’t allowed a point this season.
Next game: Sumrall hosts Sacred Heart Friday.
Lumberton 27, Bay High 6
The Lumberton Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season with a big win over the 4A Bay High Tigers. Sophomore running back Robert Henry put together his second straight 100-yard game with 121-yard performance with a pair of scores on 19 carries. Senior Davion Edwards, who also led the team with 13 tackles on defense, added 109 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts, and senior quarterback Jared Tribett rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
Lumberton rushed for 337 yards in the game.
The Panthers’ defense collected five fumbles, too, as Edwards, Augustus Sandifer, Makari Holder, Trevon Jessie and Cullen Hammond scooped up loose balls.
Next game: Lumberton hosts Heidelberg Friday.
Purvis 45, West Marion 14
The Tornadoes continue to struggle early in the 2018 season, falling to 2-0 West Marion. Purvis is now 0-2. The Tornadoes took a 7-6 lead early in the contest, but the Trojans scored 39 straight points before Purvis could get back on the board.
Next game: Purvis will play its first home game of the season Friday against Columbia Academy.
Columbia Academy 34, PCS 14
The PCS Bobcats struck first but the Cougars rallied for their first win of the season, and it dropped PCS to a 0-2 record. The Bobcats turned the ball over five times, which helped Columbia Academy take a 22-7 lead into the break.
Columbia Academy quarterback Ras Pace passed for 298 yards, and PCS running back Alden Rhian rushed for 147 yards.
Next game: PCS will travel to Adams County Christian next week.
