Lady Bobcats sweep Meridian


MERIDIAN – No. 6 Jones County took two games from Meridian here Tuesday afternoon.

Hallie Donald (Mooreville) went the distance and allowed no earned runs to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 9-4 win in game one. Madison Burge (Harrison Central) allowed just one earned run in 5.1 innings as JCJC took game two, 6-1.

The Lady Bobcats are now 35-3 overall and 22-2 in the MACJC.

JCJC hosts Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader Friday. Both games will air on

Meridian, 9-22 overall and 5-18 in conference play goes to Coahoma Friday.

Donald allowed six hits, walked none and struck out seven as she improved to 10-0.

Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) had two singles for JCJC, while Emily Robinson (Lafayette) doubled. Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy), Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana), McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas), Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia), Sarah Brock (North Pike) and Meg Martin (Leake Academy) added singles. Murray had two RBIs.

Miracle Crosby and Jayla Poindexter both doubled for Meridian. Reagan Autmon, Tiana Boutte, Brianna Robbins and Taylor Perilloux added singles.

Kayla Delapaz went 4.1 innings, allowed eight runs (four earned), seven hits, walked two and struck out two for MCC. Boutte pitched 2.2 innings, allowed an unearned run, two hits, walked two and struck out one.

The Lady Eagles led 2-1 after one inning. JCJC led 4-2 after three, 6-2 after four, 8-2 after five and 8-3 after six.

Burge allowed four hits, walked two and struck out two as she improved to 11-1.

Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) pitched 2.2 innings, allowed no runs, two hits, walked one and struck out three.

Robinson had four singles for the Lady Bobcats. Murray homered, singled and drove in three runs, while Simone McKinney (Harrison Central) had two singles. Nancy Williams (Southeast Lauderdale) had a triple with Venable and McCleskey adding singles.

Michaela Banks doubled for MCC. Autmon, Poindexter, Chandler Moore, Aahilya Jones and Perilloux added singles.

Kaitlyn Parrish went 2.2 innings, allowed two runs (one earned), three hits, walked four, struck out two and took the loss for MCC.
