ELLISVILLE – Hinds Community College swept a doubleheader from No.3 Jones County here Wednesday at Community Bank Park.
The Eagles won Game 1, 6-5 in 10 innings. Hinds then posted a 4-1 decision in Game 2.
JCJC, 15-5 overall and 2-2 in the MACJC, will host Northwest in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. The games will air on www.jcjc.tv.
Hinds, 15-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference, hosts Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) on Saturday.
Eagles 6, Bobcats 5

Hinds took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
The Bobcats began to battle back in the third.
Brandon Hale(Pontotoc) singled, stole second and third, and scored on Cooper Brune’s (Ocean Springs) sacrifice fly to right.
In the fourth, Trace Henry (Mooreville) led off with a walk, but was picked off of first base. Luther Woullard (D’Iberville) singled to left, but was caught stealing. Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) then homered to left to make it 3-2.
JCJC tied it in the fifth when Tate Pepper (Ocean Springs) reached on an error and scored when Hale tripled to right.
Staton Todd homered to lead off the top of the seventh to put Hinds in front, 4-3.
JCJC tied it in the bottom of the seventh when Hale doubled and scored on Robbie Woody’s (Madison Central) single.
Cole Whitfield homered for Hinds in the top of the ninth to make it, 5-4.
In the bottom of the ninth, Stephen Matthews (Tupelo) walked with one out and Luke Hudson (Presbyterian Christian School) followed with an RBI triple. But a pair of strikeouts ended the inning.
In the top of the 10th, Miller Hancock was hit by a pitch to start the inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Beesley.
The Bobcats were retired in order in the bottom of the 10th.
Starter Will Freeman (Semmes, Alabama) went six innings for the Bobcats. He gave up three runs, seven hits, walked three and struck out eight. Payton Harris (Oak Grove) tossed 1.1 innings, allowed one run, two hits and struck out three. Will Hicks (Germantown) pitched the final 2.2 innings and was charged with the loss. He gave up two runs, two hits, walked none and struck out three.
Bobcat pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts.
Mason homered and singled twice, while Hale tripled, doubled and singled. Hudson tripled with Woody, Woullard and Hudson Harris (West Jones) adding singles.
Eagles 4, Bobcats 1
Hinds broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
The Eagles scored a run in the first and Jones would tie it in the third.
Woullard singled and Hudson drew a walk. Mason’s fielder’s choice advanced the runners and Woullard would score on an error.
But the Bobcats would get only three more baserunners for the remainder of the game.
Starter Tyler Spring (Stone) got the loss. He went 5.2 innings, allowed three runs, five hits, walked three and struck out eight. Luke McKenzie (Columbia Academy) tossed .2 of an inning, allowed an unearned run, two hits and two walks. Jay Simpson (Presbyterian Christian School) went the final .2 innings, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout.
Mason doubled and singled, while Hale and Woullard had singles for Jones.
