Lumberton football picked up a first-round playoff win after its opponent McAdams was forced to cancel due to COVID-19.
The decision for McAdams to forfeit the game occurred on Wednesday.
“We had two good days of practice,” Lumberton coach Zach Jones said. “Of course, we’d like to play the guys on the field and win that way, but it still had to be decided.”
Lumberton (9-1) defeated McAdams last season in the playoffs. The Panthers will host Stringer next week after Coffeville was forced to also forfeit due to COVID-19.
“It will give us a chance to do something scouting for next week and maybe a chance to see those people live and personal on Friday,” Jones said. “You get a chance to get an idea on game speed from them. Hopefully we can get our guys ready and be prepared for the next week.”
