It’s batter up in the Baseburg! Are you ready for some Golden Eagle baseball? Let Forrest Health’s Spirit of Women take you out to the ballpark for its second annual “Batter Up! Baseball Talk for Besties!” Don’t know anything about baseball? Not a problem. Here’s your chance to learn… in a fun way.
Scheduled for Thursday, February 6, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field on the Southern Miss campus, Spirit of Women play begins at 6 p.m. USM’s Christian Ostrander, affectionately known as Coach Oz, will take attendees on a trip around the bases when it comes to baseball philosophy, rules, and lingo, while also providing a swing or two at the upcoming season for the Golden Eagles. Want to catch fly balls from the players or maybe run the bases? Buy a ticket! Want to go behind the scenes to see the locker rooms, hear about Golden Eagle uniforms and workout routine. Buy a ticket! Just ask someone who attended last year’s event how much fun they had.
The evening will also include raffle drawings, a variety of vendors, baseball drills, and the opportunity to get photos made with Coach Oz and some of the Golden Eagle players. There will even be a chance to get some special autographs. Attendees will enjoy traditional, All-American baseball concessions.
“We enjoyed partnering with Southern Miss so much last season, and our attendees had so much fun, that we thought we’d swing for the fences again with a second season of ‘Batter Up! Baseball Talk for Besties,’ ” said Millie Swan, Forrest Health vice president/CCO. “We are always looking for opportunities to involve Spirit of Women participants in the community while educating them about healthy living.”
You’ll definitely want to dig in for this dugout fun. Check-in gets underway at 5 pm, with the event running from 6 to 8 pm. Tickets, which are required, are $35. A limited number of tickets is available. Tickets can be purchased at www.forresthealth.org/batterup.
