Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic is thrilled to announce an incredible milestone: 100,000 spay and neuter surgeries since opening in 2009. This achievement is largely thanks to the support of the community they serve and reflects the clinic’s unwavering dedication to reducing pet overpopulation and improving the lives of animals and families in the Pine Belt area.
The clinic’s journey began in 2008 when a small team came together with a big goal: to find a way to reduce the number of unwanted animals entering local shelters. After months of research and planning, Southern Pines Spay and Neuter Clinic opened its doors in July 2009, offering high-quality, low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs.
Thanks to generous grants and donors, the clinic didn’t stop there. Over the years, it expanded its services to include wellness programs like preventative care, heartworm treatment, and dental services — all aimed at keeping pets healthy and thriving. In 2021, the clinic officially rebranded as Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic to reflect its broader mission. By 2023, the clinic had grown even further, opening a second location at 203 S. 40th Avenue in Hattiesburg, dedicated to high-volume spay and neuter surgeries. The original location at 1304 Hardy Street now focuses on wellness services and special procedures.
“Reaching 100,000 surgeries is more than just a number—it’s a testament to the compassion and dedication of our team, our donors, and our community,” said Dr. Alicia Fortenberry, Medical Director at Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic. “Every surgery represents a step forward in reducing pet overpopulation, improving the lives of animals, and strengthening the bond between pets and their families. This achievement shows what we can accomplish when we come together to make a difference.”
Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic’s work depends on the continued support of individuals, businesses, and foundations. Donations help fund supplies, programs, and operations, ensuring affordable care for pets and their owners.
