In the D1baseball.com rankings, Southern Miss (7-1) moves to No. 22.
The Magnolia State as a whole is well represented in the D1 poll, with Mississippi State (6-1) remaining at No. 18 and Ole Miss (6-1) also entering the rankings at No. 25. In addition, Southern Miss’ Sun Belt foe Troy moved from No. 24 to No. 21. Notably, Mississippi State and Troy will face off in a midweek matchup this week.
Southern Miss will have a chance to surge in the rankings as the Golden Eagles will now face two top-25 opponents, including a midweek game against Ole Miss in Oxford. The Golden Eagles will then travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU (5-2), which dropped from No. 23 to No. 25.
The Rebels went 4-0 this past week after defeating Arkansas State and winless Eastern Kentucky, but they opened the season with top 25 wins over Arizona and Clemson in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown. TCU went 1-2 this past weekend in the Amegy College Baseball series, which featured the Horned Frogs earning a win over Michigan but falling to Arkansas and Kansas State.
