Lula Mae Collum died Sept. 15, 2019. Services were Sept. 18 with burial at Highland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg.
Mae was the second of nine children born to Robert Henry and Mary Elanor Truitt.
Survivors include her children, James Collum of Jackson, Sue Gibson of Brooklyn, Faye Fairley, Missy James, Ann Collum Hennis and Darlene Riggs, all of Petal, Roger Collum and D Sandy Gunter, both of Collinsville, Ala., Danny Collum of Gulfport; two stepchildren, Carleen Thompson of Jacksonville, Texas, Ernest Earl Collum, Jr. of Cullman, Ala., one sister, Dean Windham of Ellisville, five generations of grandchildren.
Wanda Kay Dunnam
60, of Hattiesburg
Wanda Kay Dunnam died Sept. 10, 2019, at Forrest General Hospital. Service were Sept. 13 with burial in the Sunset Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunnam was a member of the Loop Road Baptist Church in Richton. She was an LPN for 25 years. She worked at the Perry County Hospital and the Doctors Clinic in Richton as well as the Hattiesburg Clinic GI Department.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Darrell Dunnam of Richton; sons, Phillip Riley Dunnam of Hattiesburg, Jeremy D. Dunnam and Joshua Dunnam, both of Richton; brother, Joey D. Graham of Shalimar, Fla.; sister, Barbara Gayle Anderson of Richton; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Amanda Lynn Dykes
41, of Hattiesburg
Amanda 'Mandy' Lynn Dykes died Sept. 10, 2019. Graveside services were Sept. 16 at Roseland Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Sumer Norris of Hattiesburg; her father, Jimmy Dykes of Denham Springs La.; her mother, Sheila Polk of Hattiesburg; her brother, Shawn Dykes of Petal; two stepbrothers, Brian Buffamonte, Brooks Buffamonte and one stepsister, Buffy Farrell.
Roderick Louis Entrekin
92, of Hattiesburg
Roderick “Rod” Louis Entrekin died June 19, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, Hattiesburg. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Mr. Entrekin was born April 26, 1927, in Meridian to William Thames Entrekin and Lucile Hamrick Entrekin.
He graduated from Meridian High School and Millsaps College and received a master's degree in theology from Emory University. He was an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church for 38 years. His pastorates included Montrose Charge, Antioch, Sumrall, Wesson, Greenfield UMC, and he spent the last 27 years of his career in Pastoral Ministry at the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield.
In retirement, he was an active member of Parkway Heights UMC in Hattiesburg, as a server in Homebound Communion, directing Sunday Evening Vespers and as a member of the New Dynamics Sunday School Class. For 10 of those years he and his long-time friend Rev. Elton Brown provided Sunday Worship for Pine Grove Recovery Center. He also volunteered at the Food Pantry of the Edwards Street Fellowship Center, and sang with the Parkway Heights UMC choir and Hattiesburg Choral Union.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia Selby Entrekin of Ridgeland; a daughter, Gayle Entrekin of Jackson; daughter, Meade Entrekin of Pearl; son, David S. Entrekin of Madison; and two granddaughters.
Lela Flynn
86, of Petal
Lela Flynn died Sept. 17, 2019. at Bedford Care Monroe Hall in Hattiesburg. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Petal Harvey Baptist Church with burial in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 until 1:30: p.m. Sept. 21 at the church.
Mrs. Flynn was a member of Petal Harvey Baptist Church.
Survivors include wo sons, Steve Flynn of Petal, William “Butch” Flynn of Gulfport; a brother, Johnny Johnson of Shady Grove; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Lela will be from 12 p.m. until 1:30: p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Petal Harvey Baptist Church.
Susie Savannah Hartfield
95, of Raymond
Susie Savannah Hartfield died Sept. 14, 2019, in Raymond. Services were Sept. 18 with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hartfield was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Oak Grove to Oliver and Ollie Armstrong. She worked at the Phoenix Laundry and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She and her husband served as camp custodians at Camp Garaywa. They were later appointed as missionaries to Mexico by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. They had a 25-year career as missionaries, which included Mexico City, Guadalajara, Queretaro, El Paso and Mexico City.
Survivors include a son, Paul; a sister, Mildred; one granddaughter; one great-grandson.
Helen W. Jackson
95, of Hattiesburg
Helen W. Jackson died Sept. 13, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House. Graveside services were Sept. 17 at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson was a retired teacher with the Hattiesburg Public Schools and member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Kent Jackson of Purvis,; one daughter, Margaret Jackson Arant of Chattanooga; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Orville Lister
73, of Petal
Orville Lister died Sept. 15, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Petal.
Mr. Lister was the owner of Bowie River Construction.
Survivors include four children, Patricia Blackwell, Sherry Breland, Mack Lister and Brandon Lister; one brother, Tommy Joe Lister; 10 grandchildren.
Angela Maxie
54, of Poplarville
Angela Maxie died Sept. 10, 2019, at her home. Services were Sept. 13 at Improve Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Maxie was a member of Improve Baptist Church. She was a nurse at Hattiesburg Clinic, Southern Heart Center for 21 years before retiring in 2013.
Survivors include her husband Bryan Maxie of Poplarville; two sons, Kyle Maxie of Grove Hill, Ala. and Seth Maxie of Hattiesburg; her parents, Lonnie and Gayle Allen of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Charlotte Milton of Slaughter, La. and Shelia Morse of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren.
David Forrest Purves
90, of Sumrall
David Forrest Purves died Sept. 10, 2019. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Mr. Purves was born in Roanoke, Va., on August 30, 1929, to the late Thomas Purves Jr. and Mary Burd Purves.
Mr. Purves retired in 1993 as an associate professor in the Engineering Department of Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Va., having taught machine shop. He also worked in the Physics Department of William & Mary College teaching machinery.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Anderson Purves of Sumrall; son, Thomas E. Purves of Chester, Va.; daughter, Rita P. Hall of Drums, Pa.; sister-in-law, Ada Mason; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
James Reid

James M. “Jimmy” Reid died Sept. 12, 2019, at his home. Services were Sept. 14,at Calvary Baptist Church in Seminary with burial in the church Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Walters of Seminary and Ashley Hartman of Ellisville; son, Jared Reid of Moselle; brothers, Lee Roy Reid of Petal and Melvin Reid of Seminary; sisters, Joyce Berry and Audrey Chambliss, both of Petal, Brenda Reid of Seminary, Rosie Gillis of Laurel; 11 grandchildren.
Sue Ryals
75, of Purvis
Sue Ryals died Sept. 15, 2019. Graveside services were Sept. 18, at Slade Cemetery.
Mrs. Ryals was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Chris Ryals of Purvis; three daughters, Susan Morrow, Jennifer Burge and Karen Fletcher, all of Purvis; two sisters, Dianne Parvin and Sandra Alexander, both of Lumberton; two brothers, Foster Youngblood and Farron Youngblood, both of Lumberton; seven grandchildren.
Linda Jo Sanderson

Linda Jo Sanderson died Sept. 15, 2019, at Forrest General Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Ellisville. Visitation will be 10-10:30 a.m. Friday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home.
Miss Sanderson was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one sister, Katherine Aplin of Columbia.
Myra Ladonnis Stutts
82, of Richton
Myra Ladonnis Stutts died Sept. 13, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House. Services were Sept. 15 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton with burial in the Mutual Rights Cemetery at Leakesville.
Mrs. Stutts attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in State Line. She was a product tester for 35 years at General Electric in Jackson.
Survivors include her sons, Reggie Bradshaw of Avera and Jeff Bradshaw of Spring, Texas; step-daughter, Gina Nalley of Vaiden, and Jeff Stutts of Nakina, N.C.; sisters, Patsy McLain of Neely and Ann Howell of Fulton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Clinton Timothy Tapper Jr.
69, of Poplarville
Clinton Timothy Tapper Jr. died Sept. 8, 2019. Memorial services were Sept. 11.
Mr. Tapper grew up in Biloxi and was a member of the football team. He was recently inducted into the Biloxi Sports Hall of Fame. He played football for the University of Southern Mississippi and was inducted into the USM Sports Hall of Fame. He worked for the Petal schools for many years as the Maintenance and Transportation director and then became the Physical Plant Director at Pearl River Community College.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya; his sons, Garrett Tapper, Shane Tapper, and John Taylor Corley; daughter, Claire Parker; brother, John Tapper; sister, Patricia Hebert; five grandchildren.
Marion Joseph Weathers
78, of Hattiesburg
Marion Joseph “Joe” Weathers, died Sept. 15, 2019, at his home. Services were Sept 19 with burial in Cherished Acres Cemetery.
Mr. Weathers was a member of the Elks Lodge for 45 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherri Cruse of Purvis; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren.
