Caerus Masquerade Party Feb. 2

By STAFF REPORTS,

The Caerus Mardi Gras Masquerade Party will officially kick off Mardi Gras season in Hattiesburg. This event will take place from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at The Bottling Company in downtown and is sponsored by Keith's Superstores, in partnership with Magnolia Graphics and Signature Magazine.

Guests will be welcomed by life-size jesters and jazzy decor as New Orleans comes to Hattiesburg. Guests will have the opportunity to choose from hundreds of Mardi Gras masks to complete their masquerade attire, enjoy delicious Creole cuisine, take photos in “The Mississippi Hippie,” a state-of-the art photo booth in a vintage VW van, purchase your favorite New Orleans cocktail and dance the night away with the “No Idea Band” from New Orleans. Ticket prices also include an event T-shirt and an entry to win a beautiful piece of jewelry from Jewelmasters. “This will be THE event of the year,” said Melissa Saucier with Keith’s Superstores. “You don’t want to miss it.”

A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit two local organizations, The Arc of Southeast Mississippi's Freedom Riders and The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. The Arc's Freedom Riders allow individuals with disabilities an opportunity to experience running events in the community as well as helps build an awareness for individuals with disabilities. Chairs will be a tool to create a whole new realm of possibilities for individuals with disabilities being able to experience a run/race that they never would have been afforded the opportunity otherwise. The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive responsible and caring citizens. Young people are shown they do matter and that it is very important for them to become active, productive citizens of society.

Event sponsors include Hattiesburg Coca Cola, Jewelmasters, Sam’s Club, The First, A National Banking Association and Walmart 98. Sponsorship opportunities are still available; email hburgmardigrasparade@yahoo.com for more information.

And last, but not least, be sure to join sponsors for the 7th Annual Caerus Mardi Gras Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 on Hattiesburg’s Hardy Street. Feel the magic of Mardi Gras as beads and trinkets rain down over the crowd.

“We hope you will join us for the beginning and end of the Mardi Gras season in Hattiesburg,” said Saucier. “Submit your parade entry by Jan. 15 and you will receive one free ticket to the Masquerade Party.”

The 2019 parade charity is Homes of Hope for Children.
