Area athletes qualify for MHSAA State Track

Athletes from across the state competed in South State track meets Saturday, vying for a spot in this weekend’s MHSAA State Track Meet.

The MHSAA State Track Meet will be held Friday and Saturday afternoon at Pearl High School’s Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex.

Purvis wins decisive Game 3 over St. Stanislaus

PURVIS – Tornadoes coach Tony Farlow thought his team looked tight during the afternoon leading up to Monday’s Game 3 with St. Stanislaus.

It didn’t take long to loosen up, however, because the Purvis Tornadoes punched their ticket to the third round of the 4A playoffs with a 12-2, five-inning win over the Rock-a-Chaws.
