An incredible two-year career for Pearl River men's soccer standout Emil Corfitzen (Copenhagen, Denmark) officially closes with one of the National Junior College Athletic Association's highest honors.
The organization announced its All-America teams Tuesday morning, and Corfitzen was named to the Second Team.
"Emil has always been an incredible player, and this honor is long overdue. From the moment he arrived, his talent, work ethic and competitive spirit stood out," head coach Drew Gallant said. "After not receiving this recognition in his first season, he didn't complain — he used it as fuel. He came back with fire, attacking the offseason with more focus and determination. Every workout, rep and extra hour showed exactly why he belongs among the best.
"We couldn't be prouder to see him finally receive the recognition he deserves. Emil continues the tradition of great All-Americans we've had at PRCC, adding his name to a legacy built on hard work, toughness and excellence. It's an honor he deserves and has earned."
The award caps a stellar career for Corfitzen. After finishing his freshman season with 11 goals and 12 assists, he turned in an even more remarkable sophomore campaign, tallying 18 goals and six assists. He scored at least twice in five matches, including a career-high four goals in a win over then-No. 11 Hinds. Corfitzen also delivered five game-winners this season.
In all, he concludes his Pearl River career with 29 goals, 18 assists and seven game-winners.
Corfitzen becomes the eighth NJCAA All-America selection in PRCC history. The list also includes Tiago Honorio Jr. (First Team, 2024), Christopher Dommer (Second Team, 2023), Tiago Honorio Jr. (Third Team, 2023), Ryley Smith (Second Team, 2021), Maddux Francis (Third Team, 2021), Michael Allizzo (Second Team, 2013) and Drew Gallant (Honorable Mention, 2003). Six of those selections have come under the direction of Gallant.
