The Pearl River men's soccer team will begin its quest for a three-peat in just over a month. The back-to-back Gulf South District Champions announced their 2025 schedule Tuesday afternoon, which has six home dates.
Following a challenging preseason, featuring four four-year programs, the Wildcats will officially begin the new season Aug. 24 as they host Johnson County, who finished the 2024 season No. 8 in the NJCAA. Five days later, PRCC hosts rival Gulf Coast for a non-conference showdown Aug. 29.
The Wildcats then head to the NJCAA Midwest-South Showcase in St. Louis, Mo. The Wildcats take on National Tournament qualifier Heartland Sept. 5 and reigning National Champion Northeast Sept. 7 before returning to Mississippi for a Sept. 10 road trip for a non-conference matchup with Hinds.
MACCC play gets started Sept. 16 at East Central, and PRCC hosts Gulf Coast Sept. 19. The Wildcats head to Holmes Sept. 23 and host rival Jones College Sept. 26.
October begins with a trip to Senatobia to square off against Northwest Oct. 3. Copiah-Lincoln comes to the PRCC Soccer Complex Oct. 7, and PRCC heads to East Mississippi Oct. 10.
Hinds makes the trip to Poplarville Oct. 14, and the Wildcats make the trip to Fulton to face Itawamba Oct. 21. PRCC closes out the home slate Oct. 24 against Meridian and wraps up the season on the road at Southwest Oct. 28.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Pearl River will have one of the more experienced teams in the MACCC for the 2025 season with 13 returners. Cameron Kent (Brandon) will lead the way between the posts in his redshirt sophomore season. Last season, Kent turned away 114 shots and went 13-4-4 in goal. A pair of key starters return at centerback in Patton Francis (Poplarville) and Sebastian Kristensen (Randers, Denmark). Tycho van Haaren (Doetinchem, Netherlands) and Emil Corfitzen (Copenhagen, Denmark) will help create chances. Van Haaren had five goals and 11 assists as a freshman, while Corfitzen had 11 goals and 12 assists.
