Opera Mississippi opens its 77th season with Spectacular, Spectacular: A Broadway Revue. If you love Broadway musicals and fantastic singing, there is no need to book your flight to the Big Apple– Jackson Yacht Club is the place to be Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. Patrons will be entertained by a cadre of professional performers singing selections from timeless Broadway classics Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Hamilton, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Annie Get Your Gun, Company, Follies, The Wizard of Oz, and many other iconic Broadway shows.
Master of Ceremonies, legendary news anchor and investigative journalist, Marsha Thompson will host this stellar evening of entertainment. Jackson-area audiences will also recognize the superb voices of Jessica Wilkinson, star of numerous New Stage Theater productions; Maryann Kyle, internationally known opera/musical theatre performer and pedagogue; and Paul Houghtaling, international recording artist. Mississippi native Katie Newton, who is currently performing in Spain and has recorded for film in the U.S.; and Temperance Jones who has developed a stellar national reputation for her musical theatre performances across the country, will also dazzle in their usual manner. New faces for our audiences include nationally known musical theatre and operatic tenor Matt Morgan; and Jonathan Yarrington, a voice faculty member from the University of Southern Mississippi. Opera Mississippi is also pleased to introduce Keegan Gulledge who has starred as Ralphie Parker in the national tour of A Christmas Story and has just finished recording a new musical in New York called Space Vacation. The show is directed by Paul Houghtaling with music director Tyler Kemp of Mississippi College and the TK Jazz Trio.
