Cary S. McCoy Jr.
83, of Walters, Oklahoma
Cary S. McCoy Jr. was born July 11, 1937, in Hattiesburg and departed this life on July 15, 2020, in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years and four days.
Cary grew up in Petal, graduating from East Forrest High School in 1955. He went on to attend Mississippi Southern and later Mississippi State. He married Barbara Padgett of Washington, D.C., on March 7, 1958, in Hyattsville, Maryland. He spent most of his adult years as a research forester for Texas A&M and as a rural carrier for Hattiesburg Post Office.
Cary was an active part of a church wherever he was living. Fishing, hunting and reading were his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary S. McCoy and Jessie (Parker) McCoy; and sister, Binnie Lee (McCoy) Mackenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara McCoy of Walters, Oklahoma; sister, Sandra Bell of Clarksville, Tennessee; children, Cary and Jan McCoy of Walters, Kathy McCoy and Carolyn McCoy of Petal, and Ben McCoy of Edinburg, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Donald Byrd of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Luke McCoy and fiancee Cheyanna Dorame of Port Orchard, Washington, Isaac McCoy of Petal, Robert and Jen McCoy of Columbus, Georgia, Megan McCoy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Sarah McCoy of Walters; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters with the Rev. Tony Christie officiating.
