Services for “Coach” J. C. Arban, age 89, of Oak Grove, were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Curtis officiating. Interment followed in the Lee Family Cemetery in Purvis.
Coach Arban’s love for sports led to his over three-decade career spanning multiple high schools throughout Mississippi, over twenty years as head coach at Pearl River Jr College, a two year coaching stop at the University of Southern Mississippi, and a final five year stint at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He remained active and faithful to USM as a proud member of the M Club, and he was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. His talents in coaching and mentoring young men helped to shape the future of an untold number of his former players and built lifelong friendships.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fay Arban; his granddaughter, Carrigan Arban; and several siblings.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda L. Arban; his daughter, Lisa (Jackie) Shelton; his son, Scott (Patricia) Arban; his grandchildren, Heather (Eddie) Blanco, Ashley (Matt) Lamar, and Whitney Bell; his great grandchildren, Myah, Zoe, Addison, Jackson, and Paxton; and his brother, Hollis Arban.

Mr. J.V. Hartfield (November 2, 1933-June 9, 2023)
Services were held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Jones and Son Chapel of Hattiesburg for Mr. J.V. Hartfield, age 89, of Purvis, MS. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 9, 2023. Bro. Alan Hartfield, B.J. Barrett, Wendell Hudson and Bro. Mike Hurst officiated and burial followed in the Hartfield-Pine Ridge Cemetery in Purvis. Pallbearers were Adrian Hartfield, Brandon Hartfield, Nathan Hartfield, Will Hartfield, Garett Hartfield and Brady Hartfield. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Brett Hartfield, Joseph Hartfield and Hart Rayburn.
Mr. Hartfield was born on November 2, 1933 in Lamar County, MS to his parents, Joe B. and Mattie Yarbor Hartfield. He worked the majority of his life as a homebuilder, building an untold number of homes throughout the area. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Parker Breland; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Hartfield; parents; and brothers, Wayne and Grady Hartfield.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Hartfield of Purvis; children, Jim Hartfield and Alan (Elaine) Hartfield both of Purvis, Andrea (John) Breland of Clinton, MS, and Blake (Kathy) Hartfield of Purvis; grandchildren, Lance Hartfield, Heather Hartfield, Adrian Hartfield, Brandon Hartfield, Barrett Breland, Anna Breland, Grant Breland, Nathan Hartfield, Kristiana Hartfield, and Will Hartfield; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dean Keith, Yuba Boutwell, Montressia Steele; and brother, Terry Hartfield.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. William H. "Bill" Quinnelly, Jr., 91, of Purvis, MS who died Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Interment will be in Coaltown Cemetery.
Mr. Quinnelly retired as an Executive Sales Manager for Lion and TOSCO Oil Companies and was a member of the Methodist faith. He served as a Sargeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired as Command Sargeant Major from the MS Army National Guard serving both Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Anne Quinnelly.
He is survived by four sons, Daniel Quinnelly (Annette) of Texarkana, TX, Stephen Quinnelly (Kari) of Rustin, LA, William H. Quinnelly, III (Lisa) of Lake Village, TX, Patrick Quinnelly of Purvis, MS; one daughter, Sarah Quinnelly Cornett (Jasper) of Birmingham, AL; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS.
