Dorothy Ratcliffe Lightsey, 92, of Pachuta, Mississippi passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023 at her home.
She was born on July 13, 1930 to Andrew Franklin and Elzie (McClellan) Ratcliffe in Heidelberg, MS.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. (Richard) Thomson of Hattiesburg; sons, Andrew Franklin (Debra) Lightsey of Heidelberg and Winfred A. (Leahnne) Lightsey, Jr of Petal; along with a legacy of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was very active in her church and community. After serving as Postmaster for over 20 years, Dorothy was acquainted with everyone in her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Franklin and Elzie (McClellan) Ratcliffe; husband, Winfred A. Lightsey, Sr.; sister, Lanier; brother, Johnny; son, Charles Eric Lightsey; and grandson, Quin Thomson.

Carolyn May, 85, of Petal passed away on January 23, 2023 at Bedford Care Monroe Hall. Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2023 at Moore Funeral Home in Petal from 9:30 A.M. until service at 11:30 A.M. followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. May was a member Calvary Baptist Church in Petal, where she was an active member, taught Sunday School, and was on the bereavement committee. Mrs. May worked at Fred’s in Petal for 20 years. She loved working in the yard and with flowers. She enjoyed traveling and reading books, especially mystery novels. Her greatest joy though was being a grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mennes and Benita Daughdrill.
She was survived by her husband of 59 years, Willard Keith May of Petal; her three children, Wayne May of Petal, James May (Donna) of Meridian, and Donna Roberts (Scott) of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Kara Roberts, Kate Roberts, Marshall May, and Graham May; her brother, Terry Daughdrill (Carol) of Laurel; many nieces and nephews; and a family friend, Angie Nix.
Francis Joseph Zipple, 97, passed away on January 19, 2023, at Asbury Hospice House, Hattiesburg, MS.
Born in Lansing, Michigan, on July 17, 1925, Francis was educated in Michigan, Ohio, and Rome, Italy.
Francis was predeceased by his parents, Karl George Zipple and Anna Frances Malik Zipple, three brothers, Karl Zipple, Matthew Zipple, and John Zipple, and one sister, Annette Zipple, RSCJ. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Yadrick; son, Jeremy Zipple, SJ; daughter, Kristin Zipple-Shedd (RJ), grandchildren Oliver, Clara, and Toby, and numerous nieces and nephews. Francis spent his life in service of others and the Catholic Church. Highlights included 25 years of service in the Diocese of
Lansing, Michigan, founding Starting Point II, a nonmedical detox center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, helping create The University of Southern Mississippi’s first faculty staff assistance program, and raising Jeremy and Kristin who have followed in his life of service, including Jeremy’s vocation as a Jesuit priest and Kristin’s vocation as a mother, social worker and non-profit attorney.
