Byron “Red” Louis White (84), of Purvis, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 29 at First Baptist Church of Purvis with interment to follow in Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mr. White was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Purvis where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. He spent many of his younger years volunteering as a little league coach in Purvis. He loved quail and dove hunting, New York Yankees baseball, and collecting antique hammers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Ruby White; his brother, Billy Charles White; and his sisters, Bonnie Jean White and Bonita White Paddock.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cheryl White of Purvis; his children, Tara White Robinett of Purvis and Richard Byron White (Emily) of Florence; his grandchildren, Jessica Robinett, Tyler Emerson (Hannah), Matthew Robinett, Josey White, Sam Emerson (Abby), and Kaitlin White; 3 great grandsons; his sister, Faye Clayton of Ellisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
