Oak Grove Warriors
Oak Grove’s three-year starter didn’t get a chance to experience a playoff game through his first two years at quarterback, but senior John Rhys Plumlee and the Warriors engineered a 12-2 season entering the 6A State Championship in late November.
From offseason coaching hires to in-game decision-making in the 6A playoffs, Oak Grove head football coach Drew Causey pushed all the right buttons in 2018. The fourth-year coach helped the Warriors put together a 12-3 season with a state championship appearance to earn PineBeltSPORTS Coach of the Year honors.

HATTIESBURG – There wasn’t much drama at Oak Grove for the early signing period. Seniors Jarius Reimonenq and Jack Harris were long-time commits to their respective colleges, and both signed Wednesday.
Reimonenq inked with Arkansas State while Harris will stay in state and play for Mississippi State.
Before every game, Oak Grove coach LaRon Brumfield writes a couple of bullet points on a whiteboard in the locker room. Usually, it’s four or five points to remember during that night’s game, but on Monday before the Warriors’ Lamar County Tournament game with Purvis, all Brumfield wrote was one.

Two of the best soccer programs in the state collided Monday night, as Brandon traveled to Oak Grove for a pair of games. The Lady Bulldogs scored the lone goal of the match halfway through the second half to beat the Oak Grove girls 1-0, then the Brandon boys and Warriors tied 0-0 in the nightcap.
