Downtown Hattiesburg will host a Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. ntil 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Merchants are offering special shopping experiences beginning that morning with a progressive wine and cheese offering from 4 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Holiday Open House will feature extended hours and offer one-day only special offers from participating downtown merchants including Walnut Square Gifts and Stationery, Blooms: A Garden Shop, McKenzie’s On Main, Main Street Books, FIKA Cafe, Your CBD Store, The Lucky Rabbit, Ardor Studio, Love Birds Bridal Boutique, Oddfellows Gallery, and Twin Forks Wine & Provisions.
"On behalf of our Downtown Hattiesburg merchants, we are already enjoying the holiday spirit,” said Andrea Saffle, executive director of the Downtown Hattiesburg Association. “We are excited to share another fun and engaging ‘shop local’ experience with our Holiday Open House. Downtown has a great inventory of items for holiday gifts, and the entire community and surrounding areas are invited to enjoy a taste of Downtown Hattiesburg this Saturday,"
At 4 p.m., 11 shops and restaurants will also host a progressive wine and cheese event for shoppers. The public is invited to park at the Historic Train Depot and hop aboard a free shuttle with stops at participating merchants. The shuttle will make continuous loops throughout downtown Hattiesburg from 4 until 8 p.m. Free public parking is also available throughout downtown for those wishing to stroll on their own.
Each participating merchant will sample a complimentary pairing curated by the Twin Forks’ staff during the extended shopping hours of 4 to 8 p.m. From sparkling rose and aged Gouda cheese to pinot noir and Cambozola, Downtown shoppers will enjoy a variety of pairings at each location.
Downtown eateries will also be open for delicious eats in between shopping, inviting patrons to dine and wine. For a twist on classic holiday shopping, patrons 21 years or older have the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine while browsing in downtown’s entertainment district. The zone permits walking in the designated area if participating, not driving.
Downtown restaurants and pubs open on Saturday include The Porter, SoPro Taproom, Nellie’s Chicken and Daiquiris, Blu Jazz Café, The Depot Kitchen, Fairley’s Wings and More, and Southbound Bagel.
