Nominations are being sought for the selection of the 2019 Petal School District “Champion of the Year” Award.
For the past 16 years the Petal Education Foundation has recognized a special person, civic club or business who has contributed significantly to the Petal School District.
According to PEF Director Leahne Lightsey, in 2013 the Foundation Board of Directors broadened the scope of the award to include Petal alumni and non-alumni, organizations/clubs or non-profit businesses who have contributed significantly to the Petal School District.
The award is given annually at homecoming. Homecoming festivities for the upcoming school year will begin on Thursday, Sept. 26, with the annual parade and presentation ceremony set for Friday, Sept. 26, at the Petal High School football game.
Nominations in the form of a letter with supporting information and listings of involvement activities should be addressed to the Petal Education Foundation Board of Directors, P. O. Box 948, Petal, MS 39465. An email will also be accepted. Send emails to leahne.lightsey@petalschools.com. Both emails and letters are due by Aug. 1, 2019.
