The Petal Farmer’s Market will be in full swing from 9 a.m. until noon on April 20, but in a new location.
This year’s market has moved from Central Avenue to 128 S. Main Street. Parking is available at several businesses that are closed on Saturdays, such as Petal Family Dentistry, Pinebelt Dermatology, Panther Credit & Regions Bank.
Attendees are asked to refrain from parking in lots in which the business is open.
Opening day will feature an Easter Egg Hunt for the children at 10 a.m. and photos with the Easter Bunny. The market is held on the third Saturday of the month through October.
The market has more than 40 vendors selling a variety of homemade items, including jams, jellies, relishes, candles, soaps, candy, bread, leather work, arts and crafts, plants, flowers, jewelry and much more.
The market would not be complete without a variety of food vendors. You can expect to find burgers, hot dogs, BBQ, tamales and snow cones.
The Petal Farmer’s Market has become a favorite event for visiting and meeting new friends.
One sociologist calculated that people have 10 times as many conversations at the farmers’ market than they do in the supermarket. Socially, as well as sensually, the farmers’ market offers a remarkably rich and appealing environment.
Someone buying food here may be acting not just as a consumer, but also as a neighbor, a citizen, a parent, a cook. In Petal, the Farmer’s Market can be considered our town square event.
The Petal Farmer’s Market is sponsored by the City of Petal, the Petal Area Chamber of Commerce and Grand Central Outfitters.
